Colin Baker (Fernwood captain) and Gordon de Gruchy shook hands and a wonderful day followed, being pleasantly warm and no rain.

Visit of the Fernwood Petanque Club to the JPC 29th March 2017
The Fernwood Petanque Club played in the Hayling Island Championships and saw an advert with Isle of Wight Tours featuring Jersey.
They then decided to contact the JPC to see if they could have one, of their five days over here, playing petanque.
There were over 30 in their party, but only 17 played at the JPC.

4 melees were played interspersed by lunch and afternoon tea, with a Fernwood player taking part in each doubles game.

The results were as follows:-
Jersey Ladies  1st Joan Le Mercier 4wins +27  2nd Jane Cuthbert 4 wins +23
Jersey Men  1st Tommy Glennie 4 wins +27  2nd Ken Vibert 4 wins +15
Fernwood Ladies  1st Maureen Mountain 3 wins +16  2nd Sally Elson 3 wins –2
Fernwood Men  1st  Colin Baker 4 wins +24  2nd Gary Davis 3 wins +15

Joan Le Mercier

It was an ideal opportunity to christen the new terrain and the President of Fernwood, John Proctor threw the first boule, very expertly, right by the cochonet to a loud cheer from the 60+ participants.
